Strengthening community based healthcare facilities in post conflict areas in Northern Sri Lanka

Premium International successfully completed a civil construction project awarded by GFATM (Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria) under the patronage of World Bank in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka and handed over 7 OPD building sites

As project manager and contract administrator Premium was responsible for implementation of entire project

Project Description

In order to strengthen the community based healthcare facility infrastructure in the northern province of Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Health through Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) under the patronage of World Bank constructed 7 modern outpatient departments / Medical Officer of Health complexes. The goal of the program was to maintain the current low prevalence of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in the post conflict areas of the Northern Province by speedy restoration of healthcare services.

Facility Description

  • 7 OPD / Medical Officer of Health complexes of 4971 - 6009 sq ft each
  • The new building complexes were erected at Pesalai, Erukkalampiddy, Nanattan, Musali, Silawathura, Tellippalai and Sandilipay
  • Each building consists of outpatient departments, ECG room, dental room, clinic room, injection room, VP Clinic room, pharmacy, dispensary, OPD room, minor surgical and shock room, PCU, ETU and PCU administration room
