This landmark Public Private Partnership agreement between Premium International and Sri Lanka’s top tier tertiary institution for engineering, the University of Moratuwa, resulted in the establishment of Sri Lanka’s only R & D laboratory for bio medical technology
Project Description
Premium has collaborated with the University of Moratuwa to set up Sri Lanka’s first ever R & D laboratory for bio medical technology.
This pioneering venture was initiated to harness the engineering expertise available locally and to provide a platform on which to conduct research on par with international standard with a view to commercialize identified technology.
Facility Description
- Commissioning and setting up of Sri Lanka’s first ever fully equipped R & D laboratory for bio technology
- Facilitated active research and development through a competent team comprising of first class engineers, PHD holders, doctoral and post graduate students working full time/ part time
- Facilitated the launch of a new engineering degree specializing in bio medical technologies from the University of Moratuwa
- Successfully completed clinical trials and awaiting commercialization of the first medical device researched and developed in Sri Lanka – Pulse Oxi Meter
