Catheterization Laboratory, NHSL Colombo

Supply, Installation and Commissioning of 2 High Performance Cardiac Catheterization Systems and 2 High-End Echo Cardiography Machines Under Austrian Assistance

The Ministry of Health upgraded the National Cardiology Center of National Hospital of Sri Lanka Colombo (NHSL) with the help of Austrian soft loan assistance.

Premium served as the project manager, local implementation partner, and technology integrator, collaborating with Vamed Engineering to execute the project

Project Description

This soft loan financed project successfully upgraded the cardiology unit of the NHSL – the only center of excellence in the country – with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment.

Vamed Engineering GmbH, Austria was the contractor with Philips partnering as the technology provider.

Facility Description

Reconstruction and upgrading of the existing catheterization laboratory complex with modern infrastructure including flooring, ceiling, lighting, HVAC, and more
Commissioning of 2 high performance cardiac catheterization systems - FD10
Commissioning of 2 echo cardiography machines – IE33
Application training for cardiologists and cardiographers for a period of 2 weeks
Overseas technical and application training for nominated bio medical engineers and cardiographers, achieving a 10% increase in the number of procedures performed per day
Reduced the waiting time of patients for cardiac investigations from 9 months to 6 months
